Meet Amy
With her cascading midnight-black curls, luminous personality and endless enthusiasm, Amy Cordina has the spellbinding allure of a modern-day Disney princess. Albeit a grown-up heroine with breathtaking vocals and a natural talent for teaching absolutely anyone to sing! Incidentally, she also happens to be a Disney Teaching Artist, leading West End workshops that bring iconic productions like The Lion King and Hercules to life—spreading joy through theatre. Amy, who leads The Collaboration Choir in St Albans, Welwyn and Muswell Hill, is a Vocal Balance accredited vocal coach and a seasoned musical theatre performer. Above all, her driving force is people—whether she is inspiring the next generation of stage stars or leading her trio of adult choirs. “Collaboration is what fuels my work,” Amy explains. “I’m a storyteller and a huge people person and I love being able to work alongside others to create something amazing.” Born in Malta, Amy was just two years old when a nursery teacher spotted her prodigious talent and told her parents she had a ‘natural musical ear’. Amy vividly remembers her first performance, aged two, singing Harvest ditty, Oats and Beans and Barley Grow, whilst dressed as a chicken! By three, she was singing and dancing at Stagecoach Malta. Growing up to a soundtrack of The Killers, Coldplay, and The Lumineers, Amy was classically trained and joined Stagecoach Malta’s youth company at 16.
She was busy devising a theatre show at sixth form, when she received a life changing diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. Amy underwent emergency surgery, during which both her lungs partially collapsed. She ended up in ICU and doctors predicted a long recovery, but defying the odds, she was back on stage within weeks. A year later, Amy won a drama school scholarship to MPAA in London, studying musical theatre and dance teacher training, relocating countries to pursue her performance dreams. Since graduating in 2020, Amy has performed internationally across multiple genres—from a professional Tui tour of Spain and Turkey to starring as Mama Morton in Chicago. (And if any casting directors are reading: Les Misérables is her ultimate dream show!) Amy regularly teaches young ‘actor musos’ and runs a successful one-to-one vocal coaching business, with students ranging from primary school age to 70-something. When approached about becoming a director for The Collaboration Choir, Amy jumped at the opportunity. “I did a trial in Cambridge with Carrie and enjoyed it so much, I thought that leading these choirs would be such a wonderful addition to my week! Everything about The Collaboration Choir aligns with my values of ‘come as you are, and we’ll work on the rest’ and I love that,” she beams. A sunshine-and-sea lover deeply connected to her Maltese coastal roots (be sure to ask her about her tattoo!), Amy has high hopes for her local choir members. “I am looking forward to being able to lead a room and hopefully be someone’s highlight of the week. I want it to be absolute fun and joy, and for us to become a happy, creative family,” she enthuses.
